What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy encompasses a holistic approach to treating pain and improving the body's functioning. It's a hands-on approach that involves a medical history, assessment, and treatment. Depending on the reason for your visit, you may be given an exercise program to complete at home to assist with your pain. Additionally, we aim to educate and empower you regarding your condition. This may involve advice regarding variations to daily activities to improve your quality of life.

What is the difference between Physios and Osteos?

Whilst they are both manual therapists, physios traditionally treat the symptomatic areas and emphasise exercise rehab. Whereas the philosophy of osteopathic treatment is to address the pain from a holistic point of view. This means we may ask questions about surrounding areas, body systems, and lifestyle factors. For example, you may come for lower back pain and get treatment at the site of pain, as well as the hips, legs, feet, upper back, etc.

When should I see an Osteopath?

When you’re experiencing pain or would like to improve the functioning of your body. Osteopaths treat a wide range of conditions including:

- Neck pain

- Back pain

- Joint pain/stiffness (arthritis)

- Joint sprains

- Muscle strains

- Sporting injuries

- Repetitive strain injuries

- Headaches

- Migraines

- Muscle tension

Where are you located?

We are within White Stone Healing Centre at 33b Connor St, Burleigh Heads.

Where should I park?

There is street parking or a few car parks around. Alex Black Car Park, Justins Park or West Street Parking is recommended. Please leave time to find parking.

What should I wear?

Anything you feel comfortable in— preferably a loose-fitting shirt and shorts/pants. For women, it's best to wear a bra or sports bra that can be unclasped.

Often, you may be asked to remove some clothing items for assessment or treatment; however, if you prefer to keep all clothing items on, that is fine.

Does private insurance cover my consultation?

Yes, we accept all private health funds. Many private health insurers cover Osteopathy. Check with your provider for specific details regarding coverage.

Do you accept patients who have funding through DVA or NDIS?

Yes. We accept your funding provided by DVA, NDIS and other independent businesses.

Do you accept care plans (5 visits through Medicare) from my GP?

Yes. We encourage the use of these plans. Please have your plan emailed to reformativehealth@oulook.com or bring your plan with you to your next consultation, and we will safely file your information for your convenience.

Do I need a referral?

No. Only if you want to use a Chronic Disease Management Plan towards the cost of your session. A GP referral is required and can be obtained if the pain has persisted for 6+ months.

Should I bring my scans (X-ray, MRI, CT, Ultrasound)?

If you have scans, most definitely! The report is the most essential part of the scan. Please bring scans and their reports or email them to reformativehealth@outlook.com
